A GLIMPSE ABOUT HOUND EVINCE (DOG SHOW 'S)

Most registered kennel clubs conduct dog show's.They allow the dog to participate only if it is registered with the club.Usually kennel club avoid prize, they should have the following classification:

  • Best of the breed
  • Best of the show
  • Best of the animal

Generally a challenge certificate is given for appreciation.Dogs are called champions if they obtain challenge certificate's in 3 different dog show's judged by 3 different judges.

Classification Of Dogs For Kennel Club Show's

Sporting dog breeds : Naturally active and alert, Sporting dogs make likable, well-rounded companions. Members of the Group include pointers, retrievers, setters and spaniels. Remarkable for their instincts in water and woods, many of these breeds actively continue to participate in hunting and other field activities. Potential owners of Sporting dogs need to realize that most require regular, invigorating exercise. Ex. RAJA PALYAM - indian breed of dog

Hound group: Most hounds share the common ancestral trait of being used for hunting. Some use acute scenting powers to follow a trail. Others demonstrate a phenomenal gift of stamina as they relentlessly run down quarry. Beyond this, however, generalizations about hounds are hard to come by, since the Group encompasses quite a diverse lot. There are Pharaoh Hounds, Norwegian Elkhounds, Afghans and Beagles, among others. Some hounds share the distinct ability to produce a unique sound known as baying. You'd best sample this sound before you decide to get a hound of your own to be sure it's your cup of tea.

Terrier group: People familiar with this Group invariably comment on the distinctive terrier personality. These are feisty, energetic dogs whose sizes range from fairly small, as in the Norfolk, Cairn or West Highland White Terrier, to the grand Airedale Terrier. Terriers typically have little tolerance for other animals, including other dogs. Their ancestors were bred to hunt and kill vermin. Many continue to project the attitude that they're always eager for a spirited argument. Most terriers have wiry coats that require special grooming known as stripping in order to maintain a characteristic appearance. In general, they make engaging pets, but require owners with the determination to match their dogs' lively characters.

Non sporting dogs/Utility group of dogs :Non-sporting dogs are a diverse group. Here are sturdy animals with as different personalities and appearances as the Chow Chow, Dalmatian, French Bulldog, and Keeshond. Talk about differences in size, coat, and visage! Some, like the Schipperke and Tibetan Spaniel are uncommon sights in the average neighborhood. Others, however, like the Poodle and Lhasa Apso, have quite a large following. The breeds in the Non-Sporting Group are a varied collection in terms of size, coat, personality and overall appearance.

Working group: Dogs of the Working Group were bred to perform such jobs as guarding property, pulling sleds and performing water rescues. They have been invaluable assets to man throughout the ages. The Doberman Pinscher, Siberian Husky and Great Dane are included in this Group, to name just a few. Quick to learn, these intelligent, capable animals make solid companions. Their considerable dimensions and strength alone, however, make many working dogs unsuitable as pets for average families. And again, by virtue of their size alone, these dogs must be properly trained.

Toy group:The diminutive size and winsome expressions of Toy dogs illustrate the main function of this Group: to embody sheer delight. Don't let their tiny stature fool you, though - - many Toys are tough as nails. If you haven't yet experienced the barking of an angry Chihuahua, for example, well, just wait. Toy dogs will always be popular with city dwellers and people without much living space. They make ideal apartment dogs and terrific lap warmers on nippy nights. (Incidentally, small breeds may be found in every Group, not just the Toy Group. We advise everyone to seriously consider getting a small breed, when appropriate, if for no other reason than to minimize some of the problems inherent in canines such as shedding, creating messes and cost of care. And training aside, it's still easier to control a ten-pound dog than it is one ten times that size. Ex. Pomeranian,Poodle,Pekingese,Chihuahua,Miniature poodle.

Entry of dog show can be made into 4 stages
  • Puppy stage
  • Novice stage
  • Veteran stage
  • Champion stage

GENERAL INFORMATION ON BUYING A PUP IN INDIA

For the general information of Dog lovers planning to own / buy a puppy i suggest below some precautionary and possible steps that may be taken in order to avoid being taken for a ride by some of the unscrupulous breeders :

Do not make any financial commitments before you see the Dog physically.
Take the help of a Veterinary Doctor and see the Dog physically.

We take only a maximum of 30 days to complete the registration process and dispatch of Certificates to the Breeders /owners.

GENERAL CARE OF DOGS

Generally dog's health reflects the owners living style .hence for keeping the dog in good condition we have to follow these general care procedures for promoting good growth and health in our dogs.

Dog Grooming

it refers to both the hygienic care and cleaning of a dog, as well as a process by which a dog's physical appearance is enhanced for showing or other types of competition. advantages are as follows

  • Removes external parasites
  • Removes dirt from body
  • To make the coat more shining
  • For massaging the follicles for better growth of hair
  • To avoid matting of hair

Dogs are generally groomed before and after bathing to prevent the hair from matting which is an undesirable quality in case of show dogs. For long haired dog should be washed, dried and brushed in one direction for good look.
it is necessary to examine ear regularly especially for cocker spaniel, labourdor and dash hound due to their pendulous ears no aeration hence the accumulation of wax and parasites takes place.
hydrogen peroxide(H2O2) and ear drops  with catycones and antibiotics like gentamycin 's  are use for treatment.there are courses online for grooming your own dog so lets try and make your dog look healthy .

Care of teeth
Dog will be in full mouth at 6-7 months of age.two types of eruptions mainly
  • Temporary -2(I 3/3 , C 1/1, P 3/3) = 28
  • Permanent-2(I 3/3, C 1/1, P 4/4, M 2/3) = 42
Usually colour of teeth is white but in some animals which are fed on canned food and spices and too much sweet and salts, the teeth gets yellow tinge.this can be removed by regular brushing.but the best thing to do is to give long bones as feed and hard biscuit.

Care of Paw and Nails

Necessary for dogs which are taken for long walks and used for exercise.Done by regular examination and cleaning of the paw&nails.
Wounds may have maggots infestation hence it is recommended to clean the feet with potassium permanganate or salt solution.

If you are wondering what the different parts are in the dog paw photo above, here is the key:
A. claws
B. digital pads (“toes” – for bearing weight)
C. metacarpal pad (the largest pad)
D. dew claw (many dogs have these removed at an early age)
E. carpal pad (this provides additional traction when descending slopes or ramps).
Deworming

Bitch is dewormed in pregnancy.if bitch is not dewormed puppy should be dewormed at day old and it should be repeated after 21 days.it is advisable to deworm once in six months.we can keep our dog safe by administering these medications to prevent diseases mainly causing by internal parasites of family - cestods ,nematodes and trematodes.
